Mikhael Bortz
Mikhael Bortz is an entertainment law, intellectual property, and business attorney based out of Chicago and Miami. A professional musician and songwriter, and a member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs), Mikhael specializes her legal practice in the film and music industries, worldwide intellectual property, fine art issues, licensing, merchandising, branded entertainment, technology, and social media. As the General Counsel for internationally renowned pop artist Romero Britto, Mikhael sat across the negotiating table from and closed deals with the likes of Coca-Cola, Disney, Mattel, FIFA, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Sandisk, and many others.
With the founding of Bortz Law Firm in 2015, Mikhael now has the ability to share her legal expertise and business savvy with a diverse roster of clients. She represents creatives, musicians, filmmakers, production companies, start-up businesses, and established brands in making exciting deals happen, and ensuring that legal rights and business interests stay protected.
Mikhael received her B.A. in Classical Studies with Honors from the University of Chicago, and her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. Before serving as in-house general counsel, Mikhael was the senior associate at Zarco, Einhorn, Salkowski & Brito, one of the top franchise litigation law firms in the United States.
